People-centered and Results-oriented Model
We offer unconditional positive regard for one another, our clients and
our clients' situations and backgrounds. Here we respect all lines of work. And we are committed to
diversity. We provide an environment that is accepting—no one needs to prove herself here. We are a
safe-haven. We understand the challenges unique to the lives of women.
New Directions Career Center (NDCC) has worked to improve the Franklin County community by providing
career counseling to assist individuals, especially women, to achieve financial stability. Licensed
Career Counselors and a team of knowledgeable staff deliver holistic
programming addressing the needs of each individual.
At its inception in 1980, the Center was the only community organization dedicated to career
development for women. Our clients make personal changes and grow professionally. The transformation
experienced at the Center has a ripple effect, inspiring and impacting everyone a graduate touches
in her life.
In our 30 years of existence we have touched over 60,000 lives, including multi-generations in
families. Our programs build the capacity to be resilient in the face of a changing job market.
Upon completing the Center's programs, an average of 95% of individuals report they were able to
set realistic and attainable career goals and 70 to 75% have been able to enter employment, complete
ongoing training or education and drop all or some of their dependence on public assistance.
Ultimately, the greater community benefits when individual needs are met. Graduates of our programs
join the area labor pool, infusing it with skilled employee candidates. Placement services provide
a vital resource, linking progressive local employers with qualified prospective employees.
The Center is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a diverse funding base. All class fees,
fundraising efforts and individuals donations are filtered back into Center's programming. That
revenue, along with government, corporate and community foundation funding, allows the Center to
help all individuals regardless of their ability to pay.
To ensure we execute the best program and services for our clients, the Center has been
board-governed since its inception. Our board of
community partners and business professionals is diverse by race,
gender, religious and ethnic background, sector representation and skill sets.
NDCC offers a variety of group programs and workshops, as well as individual career counseling designed
