For almost 30 years New Directions Career Center (NDCC) has worked to improve the Franklin County community by providing career counseling to assist individuals, especially women, to achieve financial stability. Licensed career counselors and a team of knowledgeable staff, deliver holistic programming addressing the needs of each individual.
NDCC offers a variety of group programs and workshops, as well as individual career counseling designed to assist people in their job search and set attainable career goals. Group programming includes:
Upon completing NDCC programming, 80% of individuals report that they have been able to enter employment, complete ongoing training or education, and drop all or some of their dependence on public assistance.
NDCC works with all individuals over 18 years old and specializes in assisting women in career transition enter or re-enter the workforce. Since the Center's beginning in 1980, NDCC has touched the lives of 60,000 people. In the past fiscal year alone, the Center helped over 500 people.
The Center is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization with a diverse funding base. All class fees, fundraising efforts and individual donations are filtered back into the Center's programming. That revenue, along with government, corporate, and community foundation funding, allows the Center to help all individuals regardless of their ability to pay.
NDCC has also maintained an outstanding and long-term working relationship with community agencies and funders. These include: Amethyst, Choices, YWCA, AEP, Grange, Nationwide, Action for Children, Limited Brands, the Columbus Foundation, The Women's Fund of Central Ohio, and the English Foundation.
