New Directions Graduate Testimonies
“This program has made me believe in myself again. I have found my voice again. It has recharged me to get up and get moving on to the next chapter of my life. I read this quote last night “Girls compete with one another. Women empower each other.” This is how I truly feel after my time here.”
~ Maria, ND Graduate
"I was not given a job when I came to New Directions; I was given something much more valuable. I came away with the tools I need to evaluate myself, my needs, and my goals [as well as] the ability to use these tools to better my life – whether it be to find employment or to reach other life goals. I also came away with wonderful new relationships – my classmates as well as ongoing support from the people at NDCC. The knowledge I acquired allows me to continue to grow and change [along with] the ability to seek out new resources as I do."
~ Karla, ND Graduate
“Whether it’s your first time or you are returning back to the Center, it’s family. You will become empowered, encouraged to seek your dreams and goals, and bring order to chaos in your personal life. If you are willing to change and welcome change in your life, you will come out of this Center prepared with tools, resources, and support of a team that will see you succeed.”
~ Sunday, ND Graduate
"From day one we were encouraged to dream; whether we were already dreamers or afraid to dream, they taught us it is ok. It is necessary. They allowed us to dream openly and freely. They provided the essential resources needed to create visual representations of our dreams. In doing so, it allowed us to see a clear picture of our future success. We learned the true definition of success… and that we have little successes every day… The process of getting up and going around the room observing one another’s dream boards gave an added kinesthetic dimension to our experience."
~ Pamela, Kim, and Drew, ND Graduates
"The mock interview process was very beneficial to overcome barriers in the [interview] process. The inside perspective shared from the volunteer Human Resource professionals was enlightening and empowering."
~ Eileen, ND Graduate
"I decided to take a class at New Directions Career Center because my career had disappeared and I had fallen into a depression. Between a divorce with two small children and unemployment, I wasn't in a place that was anywhere I wanted to be. It was my hope and goal to get out of the doldrums and revive my career by taking this class. [The class] provided me peace, focus and energy I had lost. The support from staff was fantastic. However, going through it with other women was instrumental to its success."
~ Terri, ND Graduate
"I learned so much! I now realize I have exactly what it takes to be successful and happy. I have control over my decisions and my choices… Before, I was negative and full of self-doubt. Now, I'm more optimistic, self-confident and full of hope!"
~ Patti, ND Graduate
"I would want any woman considering this program to know that it is worth the time and effort. I would tell her to take a chance on this opportunity because it has the power to open windows into herself and doors into the world… trust the process, share with the class, and be open to the possibility that all she hopes to achieve in her life can happen simply by committing to it one day at a time."
~ Heather, ND Graduate
