  Anne Bostwick Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1991, the Bostwick Scholarship is awarded annually in memory of Anne Bostwick, a former staff member of New Directions Career Center. The scholarship honors Anne and the lasting impact she made on the Center and its clients.

The scholarship is awarded to a graduate of the Center who needs further education to reach her career goals. Recipients of the Anne Bostwick Memorial Scholarship have used the fund to help them pursue careers in a variety of fields including: physical therapy, social work, American Sign Language interpreting, civil engineering, and business.

To be eligible for the scholarship, women must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete a core Career Development Program at New Directions Career Center*
  • Intend to further their career, education, or personal growth
  • Demonstrate a financial need for assistance
  • Have a specific plan that could be furthered over the next year with the Bostwick Scholarship

*Core Career Development Programs include: New Directions; Career SOS – Seasons of Success; E3 – Educate, Empower, Elevate; Creating Career Options; and Advanced Career Techniques.

Graduates are eligible to apply for the scholarship for the two years after their most recent program completion date.

Postcards and emails announcing the scholarship are sent out each July, and the scholarship is awarded at our Annual Meeting in September.

Congratulations to Sally Taylor, 2013 Bostwick Scholarship Winner!

2013 Bostwick Winner Sally Taylor Sally Taylor, a graduate of the Center's New Directions Program, was awarded the $2,500 2013 Anne Bostwick Memorial Scholarship.

Sally, a single mother, currently works to support her family while she attends college to improve herself and get a better job. The support, self and career exploration, educational tools, and career exercises (including the vision board she developed in class) provided by the Center gave her hope and strength. Sally is now an inspired, empowered, and confident woman.

She will use the scholarship towards completion of her Bachelor's Degree in Business with a minor in Hospital Management. She plans to graduate in May 2014 and pursue a new career in the medical field. Taylor is the 21st recipient of this award. Congratulations Sally!

Donate to the Anne Bostwick Memorial Scholarship Fund

September 2011 marked the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Anne Bostwick Scholarship Fund. The fund was started by friends and family members as a way to honor the memory of Anne, a highly respected and beloved counselor at New Directions Career Center (NDCC), who died in a tragic automobile accident.

In recognition of the contributions Anne made to better the lives of women in transition, NDCC would like to offer you the opportunity to make a gift to the Bostwick Scholarship Fund. Although any amount would be welcome, we invite you to consider:

  • A $200 donation– $10 for each year since the Bostwick Scholarship Fund was established;
  • A $100 donation–$5 for each year since the Bostwick Scholarship Fund was established;
  • A $20 donation–$1 for each year since the Bostwick Scholarship Fund was established.
