Introducing, the Tammy L. Evans Memorial Scholarship

The Tammy L. Evans Memorial Scholarship, funded by the Human Resources Association of Central Ohio (HRACO), is a one-time scholarship awarded to a New Directions Career Center (NDCC) graduate in honor of HRACO member and NDCC volunteer Tammy L. Evans.  Evans died, unexpectedly, in the Spring of 2014.

Evans, President and CEO of Human Resource Assistance (HRA) which provides HR projects, consulting and professional staffing solutions, served as a volunteer leader for HRACO.  In that role, she co-chaired the In-Transition Group, a monthly gathering of Human Resources professionals experiencing a career transition, and was the Vice-President of HRACO’s Workforce Readiness Committee, assisting hundreds of individuals in transitioning into the workforce as well as establishing a career in the area of Human Resources.

Evans proved instrumental in securing support within the HRACO membership for Meet the Recruiter and Sixty Minutes to Greater Professional Success.  These two programs, a collaborative effort between both NDCC and HRACO, are specifically designed to assist job seekers and career changers in meeting their professional goals.

Evans was also active with the SHRM Chapters of Cincinnati and Northeast Ohio for the nine years preceding her death. She was a recognized member of WBENC – Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (a certified minority owned business enterprise) and was also a member of the Business Advisory Council for the National Congressional Committee where she earned an Honorary Chairman award. Evans chaired Mission Of Mercy, a community outreach group of New Hope Church that provides assistance to children and families in need.
